At Craig Rod Holders fishing is built into our culture. Our passion for the sport matches the enthusiasm we put into our work. We continue to manufacture new products not only because we want to provide quality products for the consumer, but also because we think that they will make our fishing easier and more productive for Saturday mornings on the lake. The idea for Craig Rod Holders was introduced because we could not find a rod holder that would be durable and versatile, not because we brainstormed in a production meeting about how we could increase profits.

            Craig Rod Holders was founded by Rowan Dean Hopkin, the founder of R.D. Hopkin Machine Corp. It started merely as an idea to design some decent rod holders to put onto R.D.’s boat. We needed a set that was dependable, with the adaptability to position to the way that we fished. Not only did we make the rod holders to fit our style of fishing, but we designed them so that they would also adapt to your style of fishing, no matter how different your methods are. We needed a design that would be able to withstand the conditions that we put them through. We’ve tested this design through many fishing sessions on the Great Lakes, all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico. We meant for the original prototypes that we mounted on our “Draggin Lady” to be just that…prototypes. As we tested the equipment, we realized that the prototypes would become permanent fixtures on our boat. As we invited our fishing buddies, they insisted on us making them a set of rod holders to put on their boats. The idea snowballed into the Craig Rod Holders you know today. Now we manufacture various styles of fishing equipment and the catalog continues to increase.

R.D. Hopkin Machine Corporation began in 1966 in Herminie, Pa. We started out making precision parts for the nuclear industry and eventually evolved into making air pollution control filtration systems for power plants. Since our beginning, we remain in Herminie but we have graduated into a 40,000 square foot facility, with over 50 pieces of major equipment. Others will agree that our shop has the ability to adapt to any sort of manufacturing project that we may come across. It is this experience and ingenuity that combines with our passion for sport fishing bringing you the upmost quality parts and service.
